Remove the wire from the temperature-sending unit located on the engine (typically a dark green wire). Then connect the wire to a good ground. You can do this by using a jumper wire. Check the gauge, if the needle points to “Hot”, replace the sending unit. If the needle does not move, remove the same dark green wire from back of the gauge and connect a jumper from the terminal on the back of the gauge to a good ground.

First off, the Duramax has a really solid cooling system. Anytime I finish a repair with one where the cooling system needs to be bled, it takes a couple good, hard pulls getting on the freeway just to get the thermostats to open, and even then there are times when I get back to the shop and the temp is still hovering around the 180 mark.

Half the price of car quest, seems to be just as good. Cant speak for the life of them but so far they work great. Fixed my stuck thermostat so now my truck gets warmed up faster. Instead on a 2006 LBZ Duramax Silverado. Bottom Line recommended
